Satsang by Hujur Kanwar Saheb Ji Maharaj
A person who has never experienced sorrows can neither truly understand the importance of God nor fully understand the realities of life. But when a painful incident happens in his own life, then he begins to realize the depth of suffering. It’s only then does a person truly understand another’s pain.
God is not seen in a physical form, yet His presence is experienced through the help that comes in such difficult moments. We often say that God exists in every particle of creation, but His presence is understood when someone unexpectedly comes forward to help us in times of need. The person who becomes the medium of that help is itself a form of Divine grace.

The one who truly recognizes God becomes free from fear and anxiety. Whatever is destined cannot be changed by human effort. People often question why certain things happen, but birth, death, profit, loss, honor, and dishonor are not in human hands. Destiny works according to karma, and every action performed by a person is automatically recorded. We think of destiny as something written with ink and pen, but divine law does not need such things. Today, in this age of science, machines automatically record information. In the same way, every action we perform is automatically recorded in the system of karma. The result, the time, and the circumstances of repayment are all fixed the very moment the action is done.
That is why Saints teach that a person should perform good actions and remain humble. A compassionate heart feels the pain of others, while a hard-hearted person remains unaffected. Saints are described as having hearts as soft as butter because the suffering of others immediately melts their hearts with compassion.
Human beings often remember God only in times of pain and forget Him during worldly happiness and comforts. But if one truly has faith in God, then there should be no unnecessary fear, doubt, or complaint. The world functions according to karma, and every being comes into this world only to experience and settle the results of past actions. Human beings often blame God, but in reality it is our own karma that shapes events. God simply oversees the law of karma.

Karmic debts are repaid in many forms. Sometimes people come into our lives as family members, friends, or even animals only to settle old accounts. Many incidents in life seem strange, but they reveal the truth of karmic law. A person may escape worldly judgment through cleverness, but nothing remains hidden in the divine order. Every deed eventually brings its result.
Only the person who has personally suffered can truly understand another’s pain. A small wound itself can cause unbearable suffering, while others may consider it insignificant. That is why it is said that only the one whose feet are cracked by hardship truly knows the pain. When similar sorrow enters a person’s own life, even old grief becomes fresh again, and the heart feels the depth of suffering repeatedly.
Hence true wisdom lies not in questioning every sorrow, but in accepting God’s will, performing righteous actions, and developing compassion for the pain of others.
