Satang by Param Sant Knawar Saheb Ji, July 2026
Saints do not come into this world to fulfil any personal wish or to gain anything for themselves. They are sent in response to the cries of suffering souls. The Supreme Lord gives them the responsibility of guiding those who have lost their way, giving them true spiritual knowledge, bringing peace into their lives and showing them the path back to their real home.
After coming into this world, human beings become surrounded by many kinds of suffering. When the body is in pain, the mind also becomes disturbed. Most of our attention remains fixed on the body. We want it to stay healthy, free from pain and comfortable. Much of our eating, drinking, sleeping and daily routine is meant only to satisfy the needs of the body. After that, we spend our time fulfilling the desires of the mind. Whatever the mind demands, we try to provide.
However, we rarely think about the soul. Medicines for the body can be found in this world, but the true cure for the suffering of the soul can only be found at the feet of a perfect Satguru.
The teachings of the Saints explain that the soul’s real home is at the feet of the Supreme Lord. There, only complete peace, love and happiness exist. There is no jealousy, hatred, discrimination or feeling of superiority and inferiority.
Saints come to awaken people, guide them towards the path of Naam and satisfy their spiritual thirst. They do not come to display miracles or impress people. They do not force anyone to follow them. Although they possess great spiritual powers, they never make a show of them. Their purpose is to give true knowledge and reveal the path of Naam, the Divine Name.
Saints show human beings the direct path to God. They provide the spiritual ticket and passport required to reach Satlok, the highest spiritual realm. But receiving the ticket alone does not complete the journey. The seeker must also walk on the path with sincerity, faith, devotion and regular spiritual practice.
True devotion to the Guru does not mean merely seeing the Guru, bowing before him or touching his feet. Real devotion means accepting the Guru’s words as the highest truth and bringing those teachings into our daily life. Whatever the Guru teaches should be accepted with faith and reflected in our actions. The words of saints remain true in every age. They may appear meaningless only to those who have not understood the Guru, the importance of Naam or the consequences of their own actions.
Today, many people call themselves gurus, but simply being called a guru does not make someone a perfect Satguru. A person who has no spiritual knowledge, meditation, inner practice, devotion to Naam or Sewa to his own Guru cannot guide others on the spiritual path.

Someone who has not freed himself from the bondage of his own karmas cannot free others from theirs.
A perfect Satguru does not give only outer teachings. He reveals the inner path and gives the soul the method through which it can experience the Truth. However, this method benefits the disciple only when it is practised regularly with complete faith, love and trust in the Guru’s words.
When a person begins walking on the spiritual path, the mind and Kaal create many obstacles. Sometimes the seeker is distracted through family matters, sometimes through society, financial worries, status, attachment or the desire for respect. At other times, negative people try to disturb the seeker and weaken his faith.
When the soul becomes tired of these difficulties, it cries from within. The Lord hears this sincere cry and, through one situation or another, brings the person to the feet of the Saints. The Saint then gives the seeker true knowledge and calms the inner thirst and restlessness.
A person who receives the opportunity to meet a True Satguru, attend his satsang and remain in his company is extremely fortunate. Meeting a Saint is not an ordinary event.
We may form worldly relationships through our own choices, but the relationship between a Satguru and a disciple cannot be formed without the will of the Supreme Lord. When a person’s past karmas are favourable and his intention is sincere and pure, the Lord creates a way to bring him to the Satguru.
Some people come to the saints because of an illness. Some come because of family problems, mental suffering or another difficult event. Later, they look back and realise that they had never imagined their lives would change in such a way.
When spiritual seekers carefully examine their lives, many of them will remember an unexpected event that brought them towards satsang and the Satguru. They often say:
“I never imagined that this would happen, but by the grace of the Lord, it did.”
God has given us a body, hands, feet, eyes, ears and intelligence so that we may perform good actions. By using these gifts correctly, we can make our human life meaningful. But when we use them for wrong actions, we waste the precious gifts given to us by God.
With the same ears, we can either listen to gossip, criticism and negativity, or we can listen to the life-giving words of the saints. The difference lies in our choice and the company we keep.

We can listen to useless conversations and criticism for hours, but while listening to satsang, our attention often begins to wander. This is one of the tricks of the mind.
The mind does not want the soul to listen to satsang, practise Naam or discover its true identity. Therefore, it keeps us occupied with laziness, worldly worries, unnecessary conversations and endless distractions.
Our life can change when we approach the saints with faith, follow their teachings and sincerely try to remove the impurities of the mind. But as long as jealousy, hatred, greed, anger, ego and impure desires remain within us, outer religious appearances will bring little benefit.
A person may sit in meditation countless times, repeat the Divine Name or receive the Guru’s darshan, but if his heart remains closed and he refuses to accept the Guru’s teachings, he will not receive the real benefit. The grace and teachings of the saints are always pouring upon us. But only those who open their minds and hearts are able to receive them.
The more we remain in the company of saints and listen to their teachings, the more our ignorance begins to disappear. When the words heard through the ears enter the heart, impure thoughts and desires gradually begin to leave. Pure, positive and loving thoughts then begin to take their place.
We should always pray that every living being may remain happy. When we sincerely wish for the happiness of others, peace and happiness also increase within us. But when we wish to see someone suffer, hatred and pain first enter our own heart.
We experience peace in the company of saints because they carry no opposition, jealousy or hatred towards anyone. Their hearts hold only one desire: that everyone may benefit, everyone may progress spiritually and every soul may find peace.
This entire world is a garden created by God. Every living being is a part of the same Supreme Lord. We belong to Him, and others also belong to Him. Then why should there be discrimination between us?
Human beings have created walls in the name of caste, class, colour, religion, sect and community. Because of these divisions, jealousy, hatred and conflict continue to increase.
People may speak about religion and gurus, but if their behaviour creates hatred instead of love, they have not understood the true purpose of religion.
The real purpose of religion is not to spread hatred. Its purpose is to guide human beings towards love, compassion and truth.

God is one, and His message is also one—the message of love and humanity. Every living being is His child, and He loves everyone equally. God is never unjust. His justice is perfect. We perform good and bad actions ourselves, but when the consequences appear, we often blame God.
We should think carefully before performing any action because we will receive the result according to the kind of action we perform.
God looks upon everyone equally. A person who performs sinful actions receives the result of those actions, while one who performs good actions receives good results. Spiritual devotion shows the soul the path through which it can rise above the bondage of karma.
The soul is like a pure swan meant to live in clean and peaceful waters. Its true happiness lies in the pure ocean of Truth, but it has become trapped in the mud of the material world.
When the soul becomes deeply troubled by worldly suffering, it cries:
“O Lord, please free us from this world of sin and from the bondage of Kaal.”
The remembrance of Naam purifies the heart, cleanses our thoughts and protects us from performing wrong actions. Gradually, harmful habits begin to leave us, and we develop the habit of performing good deeds. This gives a person true happiness and peace from within.
Sewa, love, sacrifice and devotion are qualities that every human being should bring into life. Through these qualities, our life becomes meaningful, and we can fulfil the purpose for which God has given us this precious human birth.
Therefore, do not hate anyone. Do not cause pain to anyone, and do not speak negatively about others. Speak gently, wish for the welfare of all, trust the words of the Guru and practise the remembrance of Naam regularly.
