Jaipur Satsang -2, Satsang by Param Sant Kanwar Saheb Ji Maharaj
A person who remembers the Lord even in times of comfort is the one who truly walks the path of devotion. In suffering, everyone remembers God, but true bhakti lies in remembering Him even when life is going well. Therefore, one must take out time daily for Simran—, Meditate, and sit in solitude to contemplate the purpose of life and its ultimate end.
If the Lord’s Name is taken with sincerity, will He not listen? Even a sleeping person responds when called by name. Among a hundred sleeping people, only the one whose name is called will answer. Similarly, when you call upon the Lord with true love and focus, He surely listens. He listens to all, but we fail to call Him properly. Instead, we cry over our pain, our sorrows, and our karma—forgetting that these karmas are of our own making. The Lord has blessed us with a beautiful human body, intellect, and senses. If used wisely, these can lead us to both worldly peace and spiritual elevation.
The body is temporary, but noble actions remain. People remember one’s deeds long after the body is gone. Yet many take the Naam without understanding its true essence. When the mind becomes steady on the Naam, an inner light awakens, knowledge arises, and the inner eye of wisdom opens. Merely speaking or repeating words is not enough—real change comes through action and discipline.

Discipline is the foundation of life. Without it, no success is possible. Whether at home, school, workplace, or in Satsang, one must follow rules and maintain conduct. A person who lacks discipline gains nothing from any place. At the same time, one should develop the ability to learn from everywhere. Even the worst situations can teach valuable lessons, if one’s thinking is pure. A person with a flawed outlook cannot create anything good. Purify your vision, and what you seek will come to you.
Good company uplifts you, while bad company destroys. Even a virtuous person can fall into negativity through wrong association. Therefore, choose your company wisely. Walking on the path of truth is not easy—Maya creates countless distractions, and the mind easily wanders. A devotee must keep thoughts pure, maintain good conduct, and adopt a pure lifestyle. With pure food, good company, and steady efforts, progress in Meditation becomes easier. Bad habits will fade gradually, for nothing is impossible for a determined human being.
Never deceive anyone or act with ill intention. Be content with what you have earned through honest effort. Contentment brings peace, while greed destroys it. Chasing others’ possessions only leads to loss—of both inner peace and personal growth.
Spiritual progress is a personal journey. No one else can walk it for you. What must be done, must be done by you, for yourself.
